When ordering a folded leaflet from instantprint, you select the finished, folded size, rather than the flat, unfolded sheet size. Remember to account for this when preparing your artwork.
For example, an A5 half-fold leaflet has a finished size of A5 (148 × 210mm). Before folding, the sheet is A4 (297 × 210mm), which is folded in half to create the finished leaflet.
Important: You must select the finished size needed, this is to ensure that you receive the correct size for your folded product.
What finished sizes are available for folded leaflets?
Our folded leaflets are available in a range of finished sizes to suit different designs and uses.
Available sizes can vary depending on the fold style you choose. Visit our Folded Leaflets page to check the options for your chosen product.
How do the different fold types work?
The fold style affects how your leaflet opens and how much space you have for your content.
Half fold (4 pages): The sheet is folded once down the centre. For example, an A4 sheet folds to an A5 finished size.
C-fold (6 pages): The sheet is folded twice in the same direction to create three panels on each side.
Z-fold (6 pages): The sheet is folded twice in opposite directions to create a concertina-style leaflet with three panels on each side.
Roll fold (8 pages): The panels fold in the same direction, one inside another, creating eight printed pages.
Cross fold (8 pages): The sheet is folded in half and then in half again, creating a compact leaflet suitable for maps and guides.
The finished dimensions depend on the size and fold combination you select.
How do I set up my folded leaflet artwork?
Follow these tips to help ensure your artwork is ready for print:
Use our online proofing tool: Select your product options and add your order to the basket. You can upload your artwork during the ordering process or from the basket area.
Keep your panels equal: For tri-fold leaflets, submit your artwork with equal-sized panels, even if you're ordering a C-fold design. We'll adjust the panel sizes as needed.
Set up your artwork as spreads: Wherever possible, arrange your design as spreads so the panels appear together as they will when the leaflet is unfolded.
Keep text away from folds: Avoid placing text or important design elements on or too close to crease lines, as they may be difficult to read once folded.
Allow for bleed and a safety zone: Include the required bleed and keep important text and images within the recommended safety zone.
Check your online proof: Zoom in to 300% to inspect your artwork and check that images appear sharp enough for print. Review the fold positions, panel order, text and images before approving your proof.
Where can I find folded leaflet templates and artwork measurements?
